When we visited Jack in the mortuary, we were met with a heart-wrenching sight. In an effort to provide comfort, the staff had placed a teddy bear with Jack. However, the bear was old, worn, and dirty—far from the cherished companion Jack would have loved.
At Brightest Star, we understand the importance of comfort during such difficult times. That’s why we provide new, lovingly crafted teddy bears to mortuaries and funeral parlours, ensuring that every child can have a special companion to accompany them on their final journey.
To create these bears, we partner with the Bear Factory, a place where children can make  teddy bears “with love” for other bereaved families.Â
Here, they not only craft a bear but also learn about the mission of Brightest Star. Each child has the opportunity to stuff and sew their bear, placing a little heart inside as a symbol of love and remembrance. This meaningful process allows them to connect with the idea that their creation will bring comfort to another child’s family during a time of loss.
