Support Transport Ambulance

On the day Jack’s heart stopped, he faced a critical transfer from the RAH Paisley to Edinburgh Sick Children’s Hospital.

Unfortunately, due to the ambulance being an A&E vehicle, we were unable to accompany him. For over an hour and a half, we were separated from our son on what would be his final day on this earth—a heart-wrenching experience that no parent should have to endure.

Recognising the profound impact of this separation, Brightest Star embarked on a mission to change the way families experience such critical transfers. After years of discussions and planning, we proudly funded a family ambulance in 2018, designed specifically to accommodate parents alongside their sick children. This ambulance features additional space for paramedics and their essential equipment, ensuring that families can stay together during these challenging moments.

The cost of this specialised ambulance was £180,000, and we are thrilled to share that the Ambulance Service has also funded two additional vehicles for the North and East of Scotland. Thanks to the incredible support and fundraising efforts from our community, no parent should ever have to leave their sick child behind during transport again.

At Brightest Star, we believe that families should be together during the most critical times, and we are committed to making that a reality. Together, we can ensure that every family has the support they need when it matters most.
