No parent should ever need to leave their sick or dying child alone in an ambulance.
It’s an experience that will haunt me until the day that I die
Although the years of fundraising and campaigning were exhausting....
Every now and then I receive a message like this and it makes me say to myself....every ounce of hard work, worry and tears were worth it......
I just wanted to say thank you
My daughter Sophie has a life limiting condition of full trisomy 13. She is 5.
Although she has been relatively well until a month ago when she was admitted to hospital in Wishaw with aspirational nemonia. It was a very touch and go to experience and she had to travel to icu in Glasgow.
When they told me that I could go with her and I saw Jacks ambulance I broke down.
You made this possible .. I hope you realise how much it meant to me to accompany Sophie to hospital with all her needs.
She is back home now and doing ok.
I have always followed your charity and supported it but never thought in a million years I / we would be a beneficiary.
What a tremendous thing you have done and hopefully one day I would be able to do something the same.
Forever in your debt and just had to message you to let you know how much it meant to us all.
It made an extremely tough time more bearable being with Sophie.
Forever in your debt Libby x
I feel so humble that Libby and Sophie got to be together in Sophie’s hour of need and so should every single one of you who helped to make our ambulance possible.
So many people read our posts and think they will never need our services.
They think their child/family will never need to use our ambulance,
They think that they will never need one of our memory boxes,
They think that they will never need our parents, grandparents or sibling counselling BUT....
As so many of us have found out, none of us know what is around the corner
Fundraising is getting harder and harder and I don’t know what the future holds for the charity but what I do know is that this family ambulance, our memory boxes and our counselling services have already helped thousands of people.
For this, we are forever in your debt for every bit of fundraising you have done throughout the years.
To Libby, thank you for taking the time to send this message and for allowing me to share this xx
