During his final days on this earth, Jack most definitely had the heart of a lion and the fight of a lion trying to stay alive.
Against the odds, his heart started again after 7 minutes of resuscitation at the hospital, despite the fact we don’t know how long his heart had stopped before he even got to the hospital.
Although unconscious, his heart fought for another 40 hours to stay alive until his body just couldn’t fight anymore.
I remember the doctor telling us,
“Jack decided it was time to go”
As his mummy, I know for a fact that Jack would never have decided it was time to go, he would never have wanted to or chose to leave us. His little lion heart just couldn’t fight any longer.

Jack absolutely loved toy animals, he had every figure imaginable. When he was at nursery, he used to come home with their toy lions and would spend hours on end, crawling around the floor pretending to be a lion.
From a young age, that lion heart was within him.

Christmas Wish Number 6 is in memory of Jacks lion heart. We will be sending families to see the Lion King The Musical in Edinburgh in March and also on Valentine’s Day. The day brightest star was started out of love for Jack.

Jack died, 6 days before his 6th Birthday on Christmas Day so we have granted 6 Christmas wishes this year ....

Wish 1
71 families have parcels of presents for their children that they would otherwise not have been able to afford.

Wish 2
50 families went to visit Santa at Hamleys with a £20 to be buy a present from their brother or sister afterwards.

Wish 3
170 families went to see Jack and the Beanstalk Pantomine

Wish 4
250 colouring in packs were sent to Sick kids Accident and Emergency Department.

Wish 5
80 parcels were sent to staff at the Sick kids hospital.

Wish 6
60 families will go see the Lion King the Musical in Edinburgh

This final wish feels like a fitting way for me to mark Jacks 7th anniversary. I watched Jack fight the hardest fight of his life with his lion heart. It takes the heart of a lion to bury your child and live the rest of your life without them so these families deserve this Christmas wish.
