Why Brightest Star Is Needed
As another year ends and many people feel sad at the thought of a starting a new year without their loved ones, I am thinking about all the families who have survived another year without their child and all those who have loved them through their grief.
As 2016 comes to a close we are sadly reminded that our services are needed more than ever and the number of bereaved families seeking our help in growing each week.
Brightest stars success in 2016 would never been have been... possible without the support from all of you. Through your fundraising and raising awareness we have..
Opened Hulks Haven, our Glasgow HQ
Provided bereaved parents with support groups in Glasgow and Edinburgh
Distributed families across the U.K. with memory boxes
Provided siblings with play therapy
Provided parents and couples with bereavement counselling
Provided intensive group therapy sessions
Provided families support via social media, telephone and one to one meetings
Provided sibling support training sessions
Increased awareness on grief and grieving after the death of a child
Trained people in emergency paediatric 1st aid
For every penny you donated, event you attended, people you told about brightest star, post you liked or shared, message or comment you sent...I thank you on behalf of myself and every bereaved family that we have supported this year and previously. To those bereaved families who have raised money for brightest star in their child memory, there are no words to thank you enough for having the kindness to do such a selfless act.
With your continued support in 2017, all of these services can continue and brightest stars family ambulance will take to the road.
Our family support would never have been possible with our adult counsellor and our sibling play therapist, they work tirelessly and they are the ones who are changing the life's bereaved families.
Thanks to our trustees and all the volunteers and friends who do so much behind the scenes, your help is invaluable.
My husband Paul and dad Mick do so much all year round for brightest star and without their help, there is so much that just wouldn't be possible.
Without my beautiful boy jack and the love and support of my husband, mum and dad, I wouldn't have the strength or courage to keep doing this job so thank you for making me who I am today and helping me to survive another year.
